Acupressure is an ancient healing art consisting of physical interaction with various acupuncture points, along the meridians and elsewhere, using fingers, thumbs, hands, elbows and knees.
When acupressure points are worked they release muscular tension and promote proper circulation of blood and lymphatic fluid. The effect of stimulation by pressure can be profound : this technique stimulates the body and its complex self-curative capabilities.
Acupressure is very effective for self-help as well as healing others and because there is no intrusion or large force required it is a very safe therapy. Used in combination with massage and Reiki I find acupressure enormously powerful for very little effort.
I have used acupressure to relieve acute and chronic headaches, neck and back pain, muscular spasms, tension from stress, menstrual pain, anxiety, depression, night sweats and a variety of chronic aches and pains. It can release stiff joints and reduce fatigue and strain injury and I often apply it intuitively to great effect.
Because of its power and subtlety I notice that many of the people who choose to work through me when I am healing make sound use of acupressure and whenever I feel it being applied 'intuitively' I always relax because it usually means I am (literally) bringing in help from a past master.
